The Danish Crown Prince Couple paid a visit to Japan during March 26-28, accompanied by Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, the Premier of the Government of Greenland, Minister for Fisheries, Hunting and Agriculture and a business delegation of Greenlandic companies, to increase the knowledge of Greenland, Greenlandic culture and Greenlandic products in Japan.

As one of the events, a seminar on Greenlandic Seafood was held at Hill Side Plaza (Shibuya, Tokyo) on March 26, where about 120 food importers and distributors attended.

Greenland is known for the supply of high quality seafood from cold and clean Arctic waters. At the seminar, a general presentation of Greenland, its business and marine environment were given followed by a presentation of Royal Greenland, the leading seafood company in Greenland. Mr. Takaaki Shimoda, President of Royal Greenland Japan, explained about the company’s performance and fish species caught in Greenland. He emphasized the company’s strict quality control policy to meet the demand of the Japanese market and expressed the intention of further business development in Japan.

At the tasting event following the seminar, numerous dishes using our leading products including Greenland halibut, prawn, snow crab, lumpfish roe, and mackerel were prepared by a Michelin star restaurant and were very favorably accepted from participants.
